Initial Visit

At Forest City Dental, we appreciate your trust in us for your oral health needs.

As a new patient, we want to make sure that your first visit with us is a positive experience. That’s why we prioritize open communication from the start. Our team will be transparent about any symptoms that may require further treatment, provide a clear diagnosis, present alternative options, and make personalized recommendations. Together, we can form a true partnership with the shared goal of maintaining the health and beauty of your smile.

Step 1: Your Appointment

At Forest City Dental, you will be welcomed by our friendly team who will assist you with the check-in process and notify your dental team of your arrival. If you have insurance, we will verify your coverage, and you can make the process faster by completing any necessary new patient forms ahead of time via your appointment confirmation email.

Once you’re ready, one of our team members will escort you to a private treatment room. During this time, we will review your dental and medical history and address any dental health concerns you may have. Our dental assistant will then take X-rays to get a comprehensive understanding of your jaw’s structure, tooth position, and overall tooth condition. This information will be used to provide you with the best possible dental care.

Step 2: Your Exam

We understand the importance of a thorough and comprehensive exam for new patients. During your first appointment, which typically lasts about an hour, we will get to know each other and learn about your dental goals. After examining you and reviewing your X-rays, our dentists will share their findings and provide you with a 3-D video tour of any concerning tooth areas using our state-of-the-art intraoral camera.

We will then discuss our recommendations and the procedures needed to achieve your desired dental health outcomes. Our focus is on using technology to provide you with the best possible care, and we take a personalized approach to ensure that your dental health needs are met. Our goal is to help you achieve and maintain a healthy and beautiful smile.

Step 3: Your Hygiene Visit

Our Rockford, IL Dentists prioritize your oral health above all else. During your hygiene visit, our team of dental professionals will assess your oral health to determine the best course of treatment. While a cleaning may be recommended, it may not always be the first step in your treatment plan.

Our dental hygienists will conduct a thorough examination of your mouth and gums, including an oral cancer screening. If necessary, they will clean and polish your teeth using either traditional tools or an advanced water-powered instrument, based on your individual needs. After the cleaning, they will provide you with tips on how to care for your teeth and gums to prevent disease.

Your hygiene exam should take approximately 45 minutes, and you will leave with a toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste to support your oral health routine at home. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that you leave our office with the tools and knowledge needed to maintain optimal oral health.

New Patient Forms

At Forest City Dental, we aim to make your appointment as smooth and efficient as possible. To ensure this, we offer our patient forms online for you to complete prior to your visit. By taking advantage of this opportunity, you can save time during check-in and jump right into your appointment. If for any reason you are unable to complete the forms online, simply arrive at our office 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time and our team will assist you in filling them out in the office.
